Terms of Service

Welcome to ChapterHost. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ChapterHost's website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility
The Service is intended for use by students, faculty, and staff of accredited colleges and universities in the United States. You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements.
2. Account Registration
To use the Service, you must create an account using a valid university email address (.edu). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Use of the Service
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Upload, post, or transmit any content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or any computer systems or networks connected to the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service.
- Use the Service to collect or harvest personal information of other users without their consent.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service without prior written permission.
4. Organizations
Organization administrators ("Admins") are responsible for managing their organization's settings, members, and content within the Service. Admins are responsible for ensuring that their use of the Service complies with their institution's policies and applicable law. ChapterHost is not responsible for the internal governance of any student organization.
5. Payments and Billing
Certain features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed per semester as described on our pricing page. All payments are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees to your designated payment method.
Dues collection between organizations and their members is facilitated through the Service via Stripe Connect. ChapterHost acts as a platform facilitating these transactions and is not a party to the payment arrangement between the organization and its members. ChapterHost charges a platform fee on dues transactions as disclosed at the time of payment.
Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. For dues payments, refund policies are determined by the collecting organization. ChapterHost does not issue refunds on behalf of organizations.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit, post, or display through the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant ChapterHost a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and display such content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all necessary rights to submit it. ChapterHost reserves the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, content, and underlying technology, is owned by ChapterHost and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Service settings. ChapterHost reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms, is harmful to other users or the Service, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Any data associated with your account may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. CHAPTERHOST DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHAPTERHOST AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. CHAPTERHOST'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO CHAPTERHOST IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ChapterHost and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
